Books about cats

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful.

Reading books about animals, especially about cats is one of my favorite pastimes.I love reading this type of books so much that I will be immersed deeply in them and my mind won't shift away to anywhere else.

My students (Yes, I used to teach before. But not this semester), sometimes ask me, what kind of book that they should pick and read, how will they know which book should they read and how to choose the right book to read? And to answer these questions, I usually tell them to "pick and choose the books that have to do with your interests, something that you like the most and something that will really manage to make your mind escape wholly to a different dimension". And I will usually end my advice by saying "Like me! I LOVE CATS! So..I will read books about cats to ease my mind and to make myself happy":)

Now going back to the topic of books about cats, for today's entry, I want to recommend you guys these books about cats:

The first one is a book entitled "Scorpion-A Cat's Tale" ---> "A heart rendering story of a cat whose life and death intertwined with that of a loving family. A cat's eye view of the vicissitudes of family life. The book is beautifully illustrated by Khairul Azuwan, an artist well regarded by art lovers" (Taken from: Ameenbooks.Com.My)

This is the cover of the book. Kiut kann..?;p

This book was written by a writer known as Nambai---> "Nambai is Malaysian and has close ties with Singapore. He practiced law for about 15 years before leaving the noble profession to pursue his other passions, writing being one of them. Nambai is a cat lover" (Taken from: Ameenbooks.Com.My). You may read the review here.

My comment about this book.... OMG...I tell you..this book is so CUTE, HEARTWARMING and TOUCHING that I guarantee all catlovers will definitely fall in LOVE with it. It's so so so cute. One thing that makes it cuter is because this story is written from the point of view of Scorpion the cat. Meaning, in the story, we will be reading Scorpion's thoughts and feelings. It's as if she's the one telling us the story. Heee. So cute! ;)

Another interesting thing that I like about this book is because of the writer's SUPERB usage of English throughout the story. Though the storyline seems a bit childish, with such SUPERB and GREAT use of English, the writer manages to prove that this book is not only meant for children. It's meant for catlovers of all ages.

So if you are a true catlover and you haven't bought and read this book, oh please I advise you to go and buy one for yourself. Trust me, you will be charmed with Scorpion's stories and cuteness:) You can get this book from MPH bookstores and you can also purchase it online from Ameenbooks.com.my

Now, the next book that I think will be of interest to catlovers will be this e-book: Kucingcomel.Com.

I haven't bought it or read it. But I do have the intention to buy it if I have extra money:) It's an e-book that will guide you in knowing more about cats. What captures my attention to this e-book is because it is quite cheap, only RM27.00, compared to other self-help books about cats in the market. I'm sure that such e-book will be of good use to every catlover:) If you want to purchase this book, you may go to www.kucingcomel.com. And please note that I'm not payed for promoting this e-book to you..I don't even know the author:p

So, enjoy reading and exploring these books!:)

Why do cats like to lie on our books or papers?

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful

Do you notice (and I believed you do) that cats like to lie on the things or the works that we are working on? On our tables, our books, our assignments, our draft papers, our keyboards!:p Kucing memang suka duduk atau membaringkan diri mereka di tempat yang kita nak buat kerja tu. Kenapa eh? Menghairankan. Tapi comel:)

This is Hyori (Yes, she is named after the Korean singer;).
She is my friend's cat.

(Credit and thanks to Syura:)

This is Koko. Kucing di hostel aku, anak Maggi. Ha..ni lagi satu makhluk berbulu yang suka sangatlah duduk terjelepok atas kertas-kertas assignment ku. Atas keyboard laptop, tak payah cakaplah. Dah banyak kali cubaan ini dilakukan. Bila ditegur, "Hepp!!", dia buat muka 'steam' tak paham apa;p

Hehe..but I need to confess here that there are also times when I can't compromise such behaviour, especially when I'm in a hurry trying to finish typing my 10-page assignment which is needed to be submitted the next day. Thus, in such panicked and stressful conditions, their behavior of wanting to cutely lie on the things I'm working on may not be deemed as cute anymore. He..silap hari, ada yang kena marah:p Tapi kena sabar. Sabar..

I don't know the scientific, biological or "animal psychological" explanation to this unique bahavior of cats. Tapi aku rasa, antara sebab perangai "kiut" kucing ini terhasil adalah kerana diorang mahukan perhatian orang. They want attention, that's why they will automatically lie on the books, the papers, the keyboards and the work that you're working on or the things that are in front of you, so that the attention will be on them, instead of on the work. Oh if there's anybody out there who knows some other logical, biological or zoological reasons for such cat behavior, I would like to welcome you to explain or share them. I'm curious to know and would really love to know:)

Hehe..Kadang dengan kucing macam ni, aku akan cakap, "Ha..tolong habiskan kerja ni sekali boleh?";p Dan kucing itu akan memandangkan aku sambil muka macam clueless, as if menjawab "Ha? Kerja? Kerja apa? Tak tau.. Tak faham.. Meow.."..dan terus menggeliat malas:p Hai..kucing kucing...macam macam;p

Charlie Chaplin

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful

This cat looks like a regular cat from this side...

But wait till you see another side of him......

Hehe. Introducing... Charlie Chaplin!!!!! ;p

Charlie Chaplin (memang nama sebanar) is my one of my neighbours' cat. That black thing which looks like a mustache above his mouth, is not a mustache ya people...he. It's his fur;)

Kiuttttttt! ;)

p.s: Updates about Kajol: Previously I wrote about Kajol, one of my cats, which could be suffering from cancer or specifically leukemia. Read here. However, after doing some blood tests, the vet found out that Kajol is not suffering from leukemia.. It's a different kind of sickness that's not as serious as leukemia. Alhamdulillah..:)

How to tell a cat to drink a lot of water and tell another cat that she has leukemia?

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful

OMG! I'm so so so sorry that I haven't updated anything in this blog since November 2009. Life has been very very hectic these days. I have been busy with my studies and trying my best to stay sane while all the unexpected, unwanted happenings came crawling into my life. Oh life. It's meant to test us anyways. Oh well.. Let it be. I am here not to gramble or rant about my life..:p BUT to write the latest news about cats!;p

Oh actually, I have lots and lots of stories about cats that I have been keeping in my mind, that I need to write. But for today, let me write about this first. It's about my two cats at my home in Ipoh; Cindy and Kajol.

Oh before that, just a brief introduction.

He. Pendek kate, kucing-kucing ini semua "kucing kampung" saja. You may view them here.

Now going back to the story of Cindy and Kajol.
